Best Image Generation MCP Servers for Claude: 11 Compared on Setup, Keys and Cost
Eleven vendor-run image generation MCP servers, compared on what each reaches, how you add it to Claude, OAuth or API key, and what one image costs.

The top results don't say what one image costs
Search for an image generation MCP server and you get directory listings, community code and list posts. None of the ones we opened puts a dollar price on one picture from a server its own vendor runs. That's the number you want before Claude starts spending on your account.
So we lined up the eleven image servers that vendors run themselves and compared what each one reaches, how you add it to Claude, whether it signs in with OAuth or an API key, and what one image costs on the vendor's own pages. We read every vendor's pages on November 7, 2026, from Spain, and used archived copies where a live page blocked us. We ran one test of our own server the same day. We didn't test the other ten for this post. If you're after clips rather than stills, our comparison of AI video MCP servers for ads covers that side.
How we picked the eleven, and who we left out
Run by its vendor, hosted, and up on the day
A server made the list if three things were true.
- Its vendor runs it, rather than a developer wrapping someone else's API.
- It's hosted, so you paste one address into Claude instead of running code on your own machine.
- It was up on November 7.
The eleven that passed are fal, Replicate, Black Forest Labs, Recraft, Krea, Magnific, OpenArt, ImagineArt, Higgsfield, Hugging Face and Novoads. Novoads is ours, so weigh our section with that in mind.
Hugging Face, the closest call
Hugging Face is in, though it doesn't sell pictures one at a time. Its official server connects Claude to the Hugging Face Hub and thousands of Gradio apps, and on ZeroGPU Spaces each tool call uses your GPU quota. Hugging Face's docs give the example of a PRO account making up to 600 FLUX.1-schnell images a day. On its pricing page, PRO costs $9 a month and comes with eight times the ZeroGPU quota. So you're buying daily capacity, which is why the table has no price for one image.
On claude.ai you add it from the connector gallery. In Claude Code it takes one command, and you finish signing in the next time you start Claude Code.
Why Canva, Adobe, Google and Stability aren't on the list
Canva's and Adobe's connectors bring their own design apps into Claude, so we didn't count them as image servers. Canva's help page blocked us, but an archived copy from October 10 says the AI Connector is available for all Canva accounts, Canva Free included. The same copy says AI actions like generating designs may use your monthly Canva AI credits.
Google's Genmedia MCP servers say they're not an officially supported Google product, and they run on your own Google Cloud project. So Google shows up in this post only as the price of a Nano Banana Pro image. The community Stability AI server on GitHub says it isn't officially affiliated with Stability AI, and you need your own Stability AI API key to use it.
We found no image server from Midjourney or OpenAI
Midjourney doesn't run an MCP server that we could find, and its terms forbid what a third-party wrapper does. We read the version effective May 27, 2026, in an archived copy from November 1. It says "You may not use automated tools to access, interact with, or generate Assets through the Services." So we don't recommend any Midjourney wrapper.
OpenAI's image generation guide doesn't mention MCP, and we found no image server that OpenAI runs. We cover its own per-image price for GPT Image 2 in the cost section, and in more depth in our GPT Image 2 pricing post.

What the sign-in column means
OAuth means Claude sends you to the vendor's site to approve the connection with your account. As fal's page puts it, there's no key to create or paste. Replicate is the exception, since every route into its server needs a Replicate API token. Krea and Hugging Face also accept a token, as an alternative to signing in. Whichever server you use, the account you connect is the one that pays.
What the price column means
Each price is the vendor's own, in US dollars. fal, Replicate and Black Forest Labs list a dollar price for one image, and so does Krea's API price list. Recraft and Novoads price pictures in credits and sell those credits at a published rate, so the dollar figures for those two are our arithmetic. Magnific, OpenArt, ImagineArt and Higgsfield bill in their own credits, so what a picture costs there depends on what a credit costs on your plan.
fal, Replicate and Black Forest Labs
fal bills MCP runs like API calls
fal's server is a relay that signs you in with OAuth in your browser, and fal's MCP page says it gives your assistant access to every model on fal. On claude.ai you add it as a custom connector under Customize, then Connectors. In Claude Code it's one command. fal's Platform MCP is a separate server with its own sign-in.
fal's setup docs answer the cost question directly. "No. The MCP server is free. You only pay for the fal model runs you trigger, at the same pricing as direct API calls." fal's launch post said the same in March 2026, and the line has stayed on its pages since.
That's fal's stated policy. We didn't run a paid job on fal to check it against a bill.
- It applies per run. The same docs warn that calling a model or submitting a job again to check its progress creates a new billable job, so if your assistant resubmits, you pay twice.
- It applies per account. Runs are billed to your Active MCP account, which is your personal account unless you pick another.
- It ties MCP to API pricing, and API pricing gets no plan discount. fal Agent's Pro plan gives 5% off UI, Sandbox, Playground and CLI usage, and Max gives 10%, but the same page says the discount doesn't apply to API usage. No fal page we read says whether it extends to MCP runs.
- Enterprise customers can get custom per-endpoint pricing and volume discounts.
Replicate needs a token on every route
Replicate runs what it calls the official hosted MCP server for Replicate. It gives Claude access to Replicate's HTTP API to discover, compare and run thousands of models. On claude.ai and in Claude Desktop, you add its server URL as a custom connector, and in Claude Code it's one command. Replicate's landing page has you create a Replicate API token before you set anything up, and its docs say you enter that key at the remote server's web sign-in. Replicate also has a local server, and its docs say that one works only in the Claude desktop app.
Replicate's Nano Banana Pro page lists $0.15 per output image up to 2K. At 4K it's $0.30. If the model is busy and you've opted into a fallback model, Replicate says you're charged that model's price instead.
Black Forest Labs runs its own FLUX models
You can install Black Forest Labs' FLUX MCP in Claude Desktop, claude.ai and Claude Code, and you pay BFL directly. The bill goes to the organization you pick during the OAuth sign-in. BFL's MCP docs, updated November 2, say image generation and editing use FLUX 3 Image by default. An older BFL help article on the same server says all FLUX.2 models are available, plus FLUX 3 for video. A single call can make up to 8 images. BFL charges $0.048 for one FLUX 3 Image picture at 1K. At 2K it's $0.10, pay as you go with no subscription.
Recraft, Krea and Magnific
Recraft uses the same credits as its app
Recraft's hosted server signs in with OAuth 2.0 and gives Claude the same tools as the Recraft API, from raster and vector generation to upscaling and background removal. You add it as a custom connector in Claude Desktop, or with one command in Claude Code. In Claude Code on the web, you also need to allow img.recraft.ai so the images can download. The server spends your subscription credits, the same balance the Recraft Studio app uses, and switches to top-up credits once those run out.
A Recraft V4.1 image is 2 credits. Paid users can buy 200 top-up credits for $2. That works out to about 2 cents per V4.1 image (our arithmetic). Recraft's pricing page also says images made on the Free plan are owned by Recraft, publicly visible and not licensed for commercial use.
Krea bills two ways
Krea's server takes OAuth or an API token, and the one you pick decides how you pay. Its billing doc says an OAuth connection spends compute units on the signed-in account, while a connection made with an API token draws on the workspace's API balance, which Krea prices in dollars per generation. Krea's API page lists Nano Banana Pro at $0.15 per image and Seedream 5 Lite at $0.04.
Krea says a model's price per generation depends on the request's parameters, including resolution, and its API page doesn't say which resolution either price is for. In Claude Code, adding Krea takes one command, and Krea's server has an option that gives you a quote for a request before it runs.
Magnific, partly from an archived October copy
Magnific's MCP page blocked us, so part of this section comes from an archived copy dated October 22. Magnific's live docs, dated November 6, say the server works in claude.ai, Claude Desktop and Claude Code, that you sign in with your Magnific account over OAuth, and that you add it as a custom connector. They also say "Any Magnific account works." According to the same docs, MCP tools share the credit balance of the in-app product, and each generation is priced in credits by model and resolution. A cost tool estimates how many credits a call will use without running it.
The archived October 22 copy of the MCP page said MCP was available on all paid plans. It also warned that MCP actions always use credits, even for models a plan makes unlimited, and it listed Nano Banana 2, Seedream 5 and Google Imagen 4 among the models you can call.
OpenArt, ImagineArt and Higgsfield
OpenArt's MCP discount starts on Plus
You add OpenArt to claude.ai or Claude Desktop as a custom connector named OpenArt, using its server URL. Its MCP page promises no API key and no extra config, and the server runs on the OpenArt account and credits you already have. The same page advertises 10% off with OpenArt MCP in ChatGPT, Claude and more. On the pricing cards we saw on November 7, that 10% is listed beside MCP access on Plus, Pro and Wonder, while Starter lists MCP access without it. We'd treat it as a promotion that could end.
Starter's card lists watermark-free output but no commercial use rights. Those first appear on Plus.
ImagineArt uses your imagine.art credits
ImagineArt's server signs in with OAuth through your imagine.art account, so there are no keys to generate, store or rotate. It uses the same credits as the imagine.art platform. Its MCP page says an agent can generate images, video and music, upscale, remove backgrounds and check your credit balance, all in one conversation. For Claude on the web, you paste the server URL into the connector settings. For Claude Code, ImagineArt's installer handles the setup in two commands. Each generation costs credits, priced by tool and model.
Higgsfield's unlimited access doesn't extend to MCP
Higgsfield's MCP page pitches image and video generation in Claude, plus ad recipes. One of them turns product and competitor research into static ads. Its help article on the server, updated October 24, says MCP connects through OAuth with no API key. The same article says unlimited access and free generations apply only on higgsfield.ai, and that anything made through MCP, the CLI, Canvas or Supercomputer costs credits at standard rates. Our Higgsfield MCP explainer walks through that rule.
How Novoads works as an image server in Claude
What our server reaches now
GPT Image 2.6 went live for every Novoads customer at 10:30:41 UTC on November 7. With it, our server now reaches eight image models through the API and in Claude.
- GPT Image 2.6 Sunburst and Flare, at 1 credit a picture at low or medium quality and 2 at high
- GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst and Flare, at 1 credit at low or medium and 2 at high
- GPT Image 2, at 1 credit at low or medium and 4 at high
- Nano Banana Pro, at 2 credits a picture, doubled at 4K
- Seedream 5 Lite at 1 credit and Seedream 5 Pro at 2
If a call names no model and no preset, you get a GPT Image 2.6 Sunburst picture. A call with a preset runs that preset's model (image-to-ad and product-to-ad use GPT Image 2, and upscale uses Nano Banana Pro). In our app, the picture tool opens on Nano Banana Pro. The same connector also makes video, voice-overs, captions and music, so you can build the rest of an ad around a still without leaving the chat.
Getting it into Claude
On claude.ai, copy https://novoads.ai/api/mcp, open Customize, then Connectors, then Add custom connector, and paste it in. In Claude Code it's one line.
claude mcp add --transport http novoads https://novoads.ai/api/mcp
You sign in with OAuth, no API key needed, and approve two permissions. After that, each picture uses credits from your plan at the same rates the app charges, and our connector page says commercial rights are included. For a longer Claude Code setup that ends in finished video ads, our Claude ads skill guide and the five-stage Claude Code workflow for Meta ad creative pick up where this leaves off. Our post on the Facebook Ads MCP covers launching those ads on Meta yourself.
One prompt, with and without a model named
On November 7 we ran one prompt through our server's image tool twice, from Claude Code. The first call named no model and no preset, and the server made a GPT Image 2.6 Sunburst picture for 1 credit. It came back in about 27 seconds as a square, 1024 pixels on a side. The second call named Nano Banana Pro at 2K and cost 2 credits. That picture was ready within a minute and a half, at 2,048 pixels on a side. Both models spelled the headline and the label letter for letter.
We used this prompt, word for word.
Square 1:1 static social ad for a cold brew coffee. A tall clear glass bottle of cold brew coffee with a plain kraft paper label printed 'N°7 COLD BREW' in black capitals stands on a sunlit concrete ledge, with a few ice cubes and coffee beans beside it and a soft shadow falling to the right. Across the top, in bold black sans-serif letters, the headline reads 'Smooth. Strong. Ready.' Bright, clean product photography with high contrast and natural morning light.
Made in Novoads with GPT Image 2.6 Sunburst and Nano Banana Pro · the same cold brew prompt through our MCP server, left with no model named (1 credit), right with Nano Banana Pro named (2 credits) · 2026-11-07
One picture from each model is a spot check. It can't tell you how often either model gets the lettering right.
What one Nano Banana Pro image costs on each server
Prices as of November 7, 2026.
The same model, priced by each seller
Nano Banana Pro is the only model we could price through several of these servers, so it makes the cleanest comparison. fal, Replicate and Krea's API each list it at $0.15 an image. On fal and Replicate, a 4K picture costs double, and fal adds $0.015 when a request uses web search. Google, which makes the model, lists it on its own cloud at $0.134 up to 2K, with no MCP server in between. At 4K, Google's price is $0.24.
In Novoads, Nano Banana Pro costs 2 credits a picture up to 2K. On Starter, at $0.075 a credit, that's 15 cents. On Plus, at $0.049 a credit, it's about 9.8 cents. Starter is $15 a month for 200 credits, and every plan is paid from the first month. Plus is $49 a month for 1,000 credits, and our plans page shows both.
Our pricing page with Monthly selected, as it read on 2026-11-07. Each card counts what its credits buy in Nano Banana Pro generations.
Where a rival is cheaper
- On Nano Banana Pro, Google's own cloud beats our Starter rate, $0.134 against our 15 cents. Our Plus rate, about 9.8 cents, comes in under Google's.
- Against fal, Replicate and Krea, Starter matches their $0.15, and Plus is about 5 cents a picture less. Plus gives you 1,000 credits a month for $49. That's 500 Nano Banana Pro pictures, where the same money buys 326 on fal (our arithmetic).
- Krea's API sells a Seedream 5 Lite image for $0.04, and ours costs 1 credit. That's about 4.9 cents on Plus and 7.5 cents on Starter, so Krea is cheaper than either.
- OpenAI's image guide lists GPT Image 2's output cost for a low-quality square picture at $0.006, in a table titled Historical output costs, and says input tokens are extra. That's well under the 1 credit we charge for a low or medium GPT Image 2 picture. At medium quality, OpenAI's figure is $0.053, which falls between our Plus and Starter prices for 1 credit. Those are prices for calling OpenAI's API with your own key, since OpenAI runs no image MCP server.
Make ad pictures from Claude
Connect Novoads to Claude with OAuth, make pictures on your plan's credits, and turn the best one into a video in the same chat.

If you want the widest catalog
If you want lots of models in one place and don't mind paying per run in dollars, fal and Replicate are the two to look at, and fal, with its OAuth sign-in, is the easier place to start. Black Forest Labs makes sense if FLUX is the model you want. If you already work inside one creative app, its own server (Recraft, Krea, Magnific, OpenArt, ImagineArt or Higgsfield) keeps you on the credits you're already paying for.
If the pictures are for ads
If the pictures are going into ads, check whether your plan includes commercial rights before you connect anything. Recraft's Free plan and OpenArt's Starter card are the two to watch. Then see whether the server can take a still any further. Ours makes the picture, then the video, voice-over, captions and music around it, all on one credit balance. And if you came here from Arcads, we covered Arcads' Claude Code skill and its own MCP in a separate post.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you pay extra to use an image generation MCP server in Claude?
For its own server, fal's answer is no. Its MCP setup docs say you pay only for the fal model runs you trigger, at the same pricing as direct API calls, and fal has said so since the server launched in March 2026. The other servers here charge for the pictures too, in dollars or in their own credits. Hugging Face is the exception, since it counts them against a daily GPU quota. With Novoads, each picture uses credits from your plan at the same rates the app charges, starting at 1 credit for a GPT Image 2.6 picture at low or medium quality.
Key Takeaways
- Eleven vendors run an image generation MCP server you can add to Claude. They're fal, Replicate, Black Forest Labs, Recraft, Krea, Magnific, OpenArt, ImagineArt, Higgsfield, Hugging Face and Novoads.
- Replicate is the only server here that needs an API token on every route. Krea and Hugging Face take a token too, but you can sign in with your account instead.
- Below 4K, one Nano Banana Pro image costs $0.15 through fal or Replicate, the same price Krea's API lists. On its own cloud, Google lists the model at $0.134 up to 2K.
- fal says MCP runs cost the same as direct API calls. That pricing applies per run and per account, so a job your assistant resubmits gets billed again.
- In Novoads, a Nano Banana Pro picture up to 2K costs 2 credits. That's about 9.8 cents on Plus. A GPT Image 2.6 picture at low or medium quality costs 1 credit.
