TopView Review for Ads: Strengths, Limits, 3.9 on Trustpilot
TopView turns a store link or a product photo into ad drafts and says its plugin runs inside Codex, Cursor and Claude Code, but its Trustpilot profile is split: 3.9 on October 21, 2026, with 21% one-star reviews.

When the ad tool runs inside Codex and Cursor
TopView's own instructions for a first TikTok product ad fit in two sentences: install its plugin in Codex or Cursor, attach one product still, and judge the cut on a canvas. On Trustpilot, 63% of TopView's reviews were five-star and 21% were one-star when we read the profile on October 21, 2026. Both numbers matter.
Our verdict: TopView fits ecommerce sellers who want many ad drafts from a store link or one photo, and teams that already hand their work to an AI agent. Look elsewhere if your ads are mostly talking presenters made inside an agent, or if they lean on a real customer's testimonial.
We have not used TopView hands-on, and we opened no account. This review is built from TopView's own dated pages, its public ratings as we read them on October 21 and 22, 2026, and our own Novoads render of the same ad type: one product still turned into a vertical clip.
What TopView sells for ads in October 2026
In TopView's own words: "Agent handles intent. Canvas handles direct manipulation." The agent drafts, and the canvas holds the takes. Three of its routes matter to an advertiser, and each starts from something you already have.
A store link becomes draft ads
TopView's Link to Video page puts it plainly: "Paste an Amazon, Shopify, or landing-page link. Topview opens Canvas Agent with a structured prompt so you get a draft video with hooks, scenes, and captions." The same page pitches several angles from one link, each with its own hook, offer and call to action, "to run A/B tests and scale winners faster."
If your catalog lives on Amazon, our guide to making an Amazon product video with AI covers where a clip like that can run, and which slots it does not fit.
A photo becomes a presenter
TopView's Product Avatar page describes "an AI presenter that holds and demonstrates your product from a single image." For talking presenters, its comparison table lists Avatar 4 at "Max 180s per video" on each plan it shows, billed by the second.
We have seen neither output, so realism and lip-sync are untested here. Our guide to AI avatars made from a photo explains how photo presenters work and what makes a photo animate cleanly.
A product still becomes a TikTok ad, inside an agent
The third route is the Topview Plugin. TopView's how-to, last updated September 18, 2026, says: "If the job is the first vertical TikTok ad, install the Topview Plugin, attach one product still, and review the cut on Canvas. Codex and Cursor are only the hosts." The same post adds that "Codex, Cursor, and Claude Code are the apps you paste into," and its example request asks for "vertical, about 15 seconds." The ecommerce product-video workflow in TopView's public plugin repository sets the aspect to 9:16 "unless specified."
That September 18 date is the how-to's own. The same day, TopView published plugin how-tos on try-on and pain-point ads, viral product remakes, and batch product ads.
The finished cut does not land in your chat. TopView's post puts the file "On Topview Canvas, in the project the plugin opened. Not in the chat scrollback," and its install guides open that canvas in the host's own browser pane. In Codex, "Codex should prefer its Browser pane," and in Cursor, "Cursor's built-in Browser should open the returned Canvas URL inline."
One pricing change matters if you are reading older reviews: TopView's pricing FAQ says "Pro is no longer available for new purchases." A review that still quotes a Pro plan describes a plan new buyers cannot pick.
Where TopView is strong for product ads
Volume and research from one listing
Several angles from one link is the right shape for ad testing: one listing, several hooks, keep the winner. The plugin adds research on top. TopView's post notes that "The plugin page also lists lookup for TikTok, YouTube, Amazon, and Shopee, so the agent can follow what is selling," and the plans in its comparison table each list a TikTok Ad Library with "Unlimited browsing & filtering."
For a seller who builds ads from what already sells, keeping the research and the production in one place is a real convenience.
A per-second meter for talking presenters
Avatar 4 bills 0.1 credits a second in TopView's credits guide, updated January 14, 2026, and its API reference, updated June 26, 2026, gives the same rate. The Business, Ultra and Team plans add "50% Off-Peak pricing for Avatar4."
For high-volume talking-head work, that meter is low. The cost section below puts dollars on it, and the Novoads section puts our own talking-actor price next to it.
A checklist against invented details
TopView's how-to is unusually concrete about failure. Before you ask for the ad, it wants:
- "A short list of what the model must not invent: a second color, a straw, a new logo, a claim you cannot support."
- One product still you already use for the listing, with a second angle if you have one.
- A repair step when a take grows a part your photo lacks: "Attach one reference still and ask for the same shape, color, and logo."
We would make that list a habit in any tool, because checking AI output is part of what an AI ad costs, and a take with the wrong cap or a new logo is a failed test however fast it rendered.

The weak spots, from TopView's pages and its reviewers
Limits TopView states itself
- The plans' unlimited generations stay on the website. The pricing page says "Unlimited models and Free Generations on plans are accessible only via topview.ai and are not accessible on MCP/CLI, API or other automation methods." The plugin post is shorter: "Unlimited cannot run this path." Higgsfield draws the same line, which we covered in why its unlimited stops at the browser.
- The Codex route needs a desktop app. From TopView's post: "The Codex guide wants a local Codex Desktop or CLI. A normal browser chat cannot run that installer."
- Talking avatars are a separate package. The post says to skip the plugin "if you wanted talking avatars and voice on Board," because the Skill package that makes them is a different install: "Results from that package land on Board, not on the plugin's Canvas."
- Some photo formats are refused. The repository's upload bridge accepts "direct JPG/JPEG/PNG (≤50 MB)" and lists "Sending WebP, HEIC, GIF, or unsupported extensions to this bridge" among its hard bans.
- Plan credits reset, and rates can move. "Heads up: Unused credits don't roll over to the next month," the pricing page says; Novoads plan credits reset at each renewal too. TopView also reserves "the right to update credit costs at any time, without prior notice."
In practice, convert an iPhone HEIC shot or a WebP image from your store before you attach it, and budget a month of credits as a month.
The demo gap
TopView's own post is candid about its marketing. The official film for the plugin never names the TikTok Product Ad skill ("The official film does not say that name"), and the post adds: "It says 'over 100 specialized creative skills.' The plugin page does not list 100 skills."
The one public walkthrough the post links "starts from a product link, asks for three directions, and finishes one vertical cut, then adds a reference still when the product does not match." So the one-still route rests on TopView's written instructions; in that walkthrough, a still was needed only to fix the product.
Its avatar counts differ by page, too: the plan table lists "Public avatars 5000+," the Product Avatar page promises "2,000+ ultra-realistic AI avatars," and the blog's sidebar says "Create AI videos with 230+ avatars in 30+ languages." Count the presenters you would actually cast before a library size sells you.
What the ratings show

On October 21, Trustpilot split TopView's reviews 63% five-star, 10% four-star, 3% three-star, 3% two-star and 21% one-star, with 313 of them from the previous 12 months. The profile was claimed in May 2025, Trustpilot notes that the company "invites their customers to review, whether positive or negative," and TopView had replied to 48% of negative reviews. Product Hunt's six reviews are old: the newest was about a year old when we read it.
Our reading: this is a polarized profile. About three in four reviews gave four or five stars and one in five gave one star, so read the newest one-star reviews and TopView's replies before you commit to a year.
What TopView charges per ad
TopView sells credits. On October 21, 2026, its pricing page, read from Chile in US dollars before VAT, showed Basic at $8 a month on monthly billing for 50 credits a month, and Ultra at $50 a month billed annually ($599.9 billed annually) for 500 credits a month.
One 30-second ad, in credits: Avatar 4 at 0.1 credits a second uses 3 credits, about $0.48 at Basic's rate and $0.30 at Ultra annual's. TopView's own comparison table, "Checked August 7, 2026," prices a 30-second Seedance 2.5 clip at 720p at $3.60 on its Ultra Annual plan.
Both cards print a struck list price beside the discounted one, $150 beside Ultra's $50, so check the live page on the day you buy. Every plan, both billing toggles and the credit rates are in our TopView pricing breakdown.
Who should pick TopView, and who should skip it
Pick TopView if
- You sell on Amazon or Shopify and want several ad drafts per listing from a link.
- Your team already works in Codex, Cursor or Claude Code and is happy to judge takes on a separate canvas.
- You need many talking-presenter clips, and a per-second avatar meter suits your volume.
- You want TikTok ad research next to production, from the ad library and the plugin's data lookup.
Skip it if
- You bought a plan for its unlimited generations and expected them inside your agent.
- You want talking avatars and voice from the plugin route.
- The ad needs a real person's testimonial or a label that is exact in every frame. TopView's own advice there is "Generate the ad. Shoot the evidence."
Three checks before you pay for a year
- Run your hardest product, the one with small printed text, and inspect the label at full size.
- Count how many takes a usable ad needs, because unused plan credits do not roll over.
- Read the newest one-star reviews on Trustpilot and the replies TopView posted to them.

How Novoads makes the same one-still product ad
Novoads turns one product image into a vertical video ad, and it can work from inside an agent too. Our connector and skill pack run in Claude Code and Cursor, and the skill pack "brings the finished render back into the session." That is the main difference in shape from TopView's plugin, whose cut lives on Canvas. Our walkthrough of making video ads from Claude with one connector shows the setup.
The run: one serum still, one 10-second selfie clip
On October 21, 2026, we ran the job TopView's how-to describes through the Novoads MCP connector. The product still was a GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst picture of an amber dropper bottle with a blank cream label, which cost 1 credit. We gave it to Seedance 2.0 Mini as the reference for a 10-second 9:16 selfie at 720p: a woman in a bright bathroom holds the bottle next to her face and says, "Two weeks of this serum, and my skin finally looks awake. Three drops at night, that's it." The clip rendered in 93 seconds for 10 credits.
Seedance 2.0 Mini · prompt: a selfie in a bright bathroom, a woman holds the serum bottle from one product still next to her face and says three drops at night is all it takes · 10 credits · rendered 2026-10-21
What the run showed, and what it did not
- The bottle kept its shape and its blank label in every frame we checked at full resolution.
- The spoken line came back word for word in our transcript check.
- It did not test a printed label with words on it, the case TopView itself says to shoot rather than generate.
- It is one 10-second clip, not a 30-second ad, and one run, not a hit rate.
- It used Novoads' video-generation route with a reference image. A stock Novoads talking actor has empty hands; putting your product in its hands takes a custom actor made from a photo of someone holding it.
For the step-by-step version of this route, see one photo to a finished 15-second ad.
What the same job costs in each tool
Seedance 2.0 Mini costs 1 Novoads credit a second at 720p, so the clip above used 10 credits: about $0.49 at the Plus rate ($49 for 1,000 credits) and $0.75 at the Starter rate ($15 for 200).
Talking presenters run the other way. Novoads bills a talking actor by the started minute, 200 credits at 720p, so a 30-second talking ad uses $9.80 of a Plus plan or all 200 credits of a $15 Starter month. TopView's Avatar 4 does 30 seconds for 3 credits, about $0.30 to $0.48. On a 30-second talking avatar, TopView is far cheaper. TopView's Ultra annual also undercuts us on a 30-second Seedance 2.5 clip at 720p: $3.60 there, against 210 Novoads credits, or $10.29 at the Plus rate. Its Ultra annual card even lists 365 days of unlimited Seedance 2.0 Mini at 720p, the model of our run, on topview.ai.
What narrows the gap on our side: a 60-second Novoads talking ad costs the same 200 credits as a 30-second one, 480p halves it to 100, and plans start at $15 a month on our pricing page.
Where an online store starts
If you sell physical products, our page on AI video ads for ecommerce starts from the product, the same place TopView's plugin starts.

Judge the bottle before you judge the platform
The best line in TopView's documentation is its own: "Judge the product first." A take that changes your bottle, your logo or your label is a failed test whatever tool made it, and no meter, however cheap, fixes that.
TopView earns a look for link-to-ad volume, a cheap avatar meter and an agent route that keeps every take on one canvas. Run the same product still through it and through one other tool, and let the bottle decide.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is TopView free?
The cheapest card on TopView's pricing page, read from Chile in US dollars on October 21, 2026, was Basic: $8 a month on monthly billing for 50 credits a month, before VAT. Its paid plans add some free generations on named models, usable only on topview.ai, and its blog pages carry a 'Start creating for free' button. Check what a new account includes before you count on free output.
Is TopView legit, and where are its reviews?
TopView's site footer names the company as TOPVIEW PTE. LTD., with addresses in Singapore and Chino Hills, California. Its Trustpilot profile, claimed in May 2025, showed a 3.9 TrustScore from 334 reviews on October 21, 2026, and Trustpilot notes that TopView invites customers to review. Product Hunt showed 3.7 from 6 reviews, the newest about a year old. G2's page was not visible to our fetcher.
Can TopView make an ad inside Codex, Cursor or Claude Code?
TopView says yes. Its how-to, last updated September 18, 2026, names Codex, Cursor and Claude Code as the apps you paste the plugin's install prompt into, then asks for one product still and one task. The cut lands on Topview Canvas, which the host opens in its browser pane, and the unlimited generations on TopView plans cannot run through the plugin. We have not tested any host ourselves.
How much does a TopView avatar video cost?
TopView's credits guide, updated January 14, 2026, bills Avatar 4 at 0.1 credits a second, so 30 seconds uses 3 credits. At the prices its pricing page showed on October 21, 2026, that is about $0.48 on Basic ($8 a month for 50 credits) and about $0.30 on Ultra annual ($599.9 a year for 500 credits a month). Avatar 4 videos run up to 180 seconds.
Key Takeaways
- TopView builds ad drafts from a store link (Link to Video), from one product photo (Product Avatar) and, through its plugin, from one product still inside Codex, Cursor or Claude Code, by its own account. We have not used it hands-on.
- The plugin's cut lands on Topview Canvas, which the host opens in its browser pane, and the unlimited generations that come with TopView plans work only on topview.ai, not through the plugin, MCP or API.
- Trustpilot showed TopView a 3.9 TrustScore from 334 reviews on October 21, 2026 (333 a day later), 63% of them five-star and 21% one-star, and it notes that TopView invites customers to review.
- Avatar 4 bills one TopView credit for every 10 seconds, so a 30-second avatar uses 3 TopView credits, about $0.30 to $0.48. A Novoads talking actor bills 200 credits per started minute, $9.80 of a Plus plan: TopView is far cheaper for that ad.
- Our Novoads run of the same one-still job, a 10-second Seedance 2.0 Mini selfie clip, cost 10 credits and kept the bottle's shape and blank label in every frame.
