Kapwing Review for Video Ads: AI Models, Watermarks, and What 1,000 Credits Make

Kapwing shows Pro at $16 per member a month, billed yearly, with 1,000 AI credits. We worked out what those credits make by its own estimate, went through its watermark rules and ratings, and priced the same clips in Novoads.

One 30-second clip can use 695 of Pro's 1,000 credits

Kapwing's pricing page shows Pro at $16 with 1,000 AI credits a month. Its plan FAQ fills in what the card leaves out. It says the $16 is per member and billed once a year, at $192. For that, you get a browser video editor, exports with no Kapwing watermark, and one pool of credits you spend on generated clips, subtitles and dubbing alike.

None of the search results we opened price a generated clip in those credits, and that's the number an ad maker needs. By Kapwing's own estimate, one 30-second Seedance 2.5 clip at 720p uses 695 of them. So we did the math for the models Kapwing lists and set it beside our own prices, including the cases where Kapwing comes out cheaper.

We didn't test Kapwing for this post, and we didn't see it charge anything, in credits or in dollars. The numbers come from Kapwing's pages as we read them from Spain on November 5, 2026, the estimate code in its app, public ratings and one clip of ours.

What the card shows and what the FAQ adds

The pricing page opens on Annual, so the $16 and $50 you see first are yearly prices shown per month. Switch to Monthly and they become $24 and $64.

The card no longer says "per member" or "billed annually". An archive copy from October 12, 2026 still shows "Per member, per month, billed annually" beside the price. The copy from October 17 doesn't. So we take both from Kapwing's plan FAQ, which was last updated August 31, 2026. It says "Kapwing workspaces on the Pro Plan are billed per member." and "Pricing starts at $16 per member per month when billed annually or $24 per member per month when billed monthly." Its three-person example comes to "$576 ($192 x 3 members x 1 year)". That FAQ predates the change to the card, but a note in the code of Kapwing's app still says an upgraded plan "is billed per seat".

The price isn't new. Kapwing's blog put the yearly rate at $192 back in November 2021.

Kapwing's terms, last modified in September 2024, say "Pricing and Plan availability may vary by location." We checked from one country and found one price, in USD. Kapwing's pricing FAQ says fees and taxes are included in that price. We didn't reach the checkout, so we can't confirm a final total.

How the credit pool works

Kapwing rolled out its AI Credits system on December 1, 2025, and its tools now "pull from a single AI Credits pool rather than their own dedicated monthly limits." So a dub and a generated clip come out of the same month's credits.

Paid credits refresh on the first of each month. The pricing page lists buying more as a Business feature, at 500 credits for $50, according to the credits article. That's 10 cents a credit by our arithmetic, well above any plan's rate in the table below. The article says those packs don't roll over, and that remaining credits "will be removed upon the credit refresh". We found nothing else on whether plan credits carry over, so we'd assume they don't.

Billing is per member, but Kapwing states credits per plan or workspace ("Pro Workspaces have up to 1000 credits available per month"), and we found nothing on whether credits rise with seats. So every Kapwing calculation in this post assumes a workspace with one member.

Plan and billingYou payCreditsPer credit, by our arithmetic
Pro, billed monthly$24 a month1,000 a month2.4 cents
Pro, billed yearly$192 a year12,000 over the year1.6 cents
Business, billed monthly$64 a month4,000 a month1.6 cents
Business, billed yearly$600 a year48,000 over the year1.25 cents

Those rates hold only if you spend every credit before each refresh.

Refunds, trials and changing plans

Kapwing's pricing page says "We do not currently offer a free trial for Kapwing's paid plans." Its terms say "Once you have upgraded to a Kapwing Paid Plan, a refund will not be provided as set forth in these terms." Its plan FAQ says you "can upgrade from monthly to annual and from Pro to Business." Going the other way, you "must cancel your subscription" and wait for the billing cycle to end, or contact Kapwing.

So if you're not sure, we'd start on monthly. It's $8 more a month on Pro, and you can still switch to yearly later, but a $192 invoice can't be refunded under those terms.

What 1,000 credits make, by Kapwing's own estimate

Kapwing doesn't publish a price list for clips. Its credits article says "credits depend on quality and model used, AI estimate is the best resource," and its August 2026 notes say people "approve the estimated credits" in Kai, its AI chat, before a job runs.

So the credits in the table below are Kapwing's own estimate, taken from its app's script as it stood on November 5, 2026. The dollars are our arithmetic. This isn't a table Kapwing publishes, and we didn't watch a job run or a balance drop. Clips are at 720p, except MiniMax H3 at the 768p its page gives. Two rows use a pair of 15-second clips, the longest those models make in Kapwing.

What you generateKapwing's estimateWhat Pro's 1,000 credits makeOn Pro billed monthlyOn Pro billed yearly
Seedance 2.5, one 30-second clip695 credits1 clip, 305 left$16.68$11.12
Seedance 2.0, two 15-second clips456 credits2 pairs, 88 left$10.94$7.30
MiniMax H3, two 15-second clips244 credits4 pairs, 24 left$5.86$3.90

GPT Image 2, one image6 credits166 imagesabout 14 centsabout 10 cents
Google Nano Banana, one image4 credits250 imagesabout 10 centsabout 6 cents

The dollars are credits times 2.4 or 1.6 cents, which assumes you spend the whole month's credits. Make one clip in a month and you've still paid for the whole plan.

For Seedance, Kapwing's estimate turns seconds and frame size into tokens, applies a rate per million tokens, rounds down and adds 2. That's how the 30-second clip goes from 693.36 to 695.

What that means for one month on Pro

Kapwing's credits article says "A video would be 20+ credits depending on the length, resolution, and model." By its own estimate, a 30-second Seedance 2.5 clip is about 35 times that floor.

Its help pages say "once a video is generated, credits are consumed regardless of satisfaction with the output," though failed jobs get their credits back. So a second take of that clip would put you at 1,390 credits in one month, and Pro has 1,000. Our reading is that Pro covers one Seedance 2.5 clip a month if the first take works, but not several hooks at that length.

Check the resolution before you approve anything. Kai's menu starts Seedance 2.0 at 1080p, where Kapwing's estimate for a 15-second clip is 563 credits, so two of them would go past Pro's monthly credits.

Cheaper models help, as Kapwing's help pages suggest ("you can try choosing cheaper models to see if this helps reduce the credit cost"). Kapwing's August 2026 notes name Hailuo 3 by MiniMax (H3 in the menu) as Kai's default "because the cost vs quality tradeoff seems like the best that we've seen." On these estimates, it's the cheapest 30 seconds in the table. If you'd rather have a single long take, Kapwing's Seedance page says "The 30-second runtime can fit a hook, demonstration, benefit, and call to action into one connected scene." We've also written about what Seedance 2.5 does and how Seedance 2.0 compares with Veo 3.1 for ads.

Where the same pool goes further

Kapwing does publish rates for its editing tools, in its credits article last updated September 10, 2026.

ToolCredits
Subtitle transcription1 a minute
Subtitle translation2 a minute
Text to speech1 per 100 characters
Dubbing10 per 30 seconds
Lip sync30 a minute
Video resize4 a video

The article adds that "All tools will cost at least 1 credit, even if the input is less than a minute." At those rates, Pro's monthly credits cover 1,000 minutes of subtitles or 250 resizes. So we think Pro's credits go a long way if you mostly edit.

The AI models Kapwing lists today

Kapwing changes its lineup often. It added Seedance 2.5 and MiniMax H3 in August 2026. So read this as the list in Kai's menu on November 5, 2026, under the names Kapwing uses.

Video models

Model, as Kapwing names itLongest clipKapwing's estimate for that clip
MiniMax H315 seconds at 768p122 credits
Seedance 2.530 seconds at 720p695 credits
Seedance 2.015 seconds at 720p228 credits
Happy Horse 1.015 seconds at 720p212 credits
Grok Imagine Video15 seconds at 720p107 credits
Kling Omni, silent10 seconds114 credits
Veo 3, with sound8 seconds98 credits

The menu also has Kling Motion Control (we didn't price it), stock videos, and an Auto setting that Kapwing describes as "Kai picks the default balance of quality, speed, and cost".

Veo 3 is Kapwing's name for that entry, and the app's internal ID for it is Veo 3.1 Fast. Kapwing says "some advanced models, such as Veo, require a paid plan." Its Seedance 2.5 page says "480p, 720p, and up to 1080p", but the app's menu lists only the first two, so we kept every comparison at 720p.

Images and music

The image menu lists Seedream 4.5, Seedream 5, Google Nano Banana, GPT Image 2, GPT Image 2 Low and Grok Imagine Image, plus Auto and stock images. Kapwing's credits article puts images at "4 - 6 credits depending on quality and model used." The app's estimate has GPT Image 2 Low at 1 credit, below that range.

The music menu lists Minimax Music 3.0, ElevenLabs Music v2, Lyria 3.5 and Minimax Music 2.0, plus Auto and stock music. The credits article says music costs 10 credits per song or sound effect. But Kapwing's in-app estimate runs from 5 credits for Minimax Music 2.0 to 47 for ElevenLabs Music v2, so go by the number Kai shows before you approve.

Talking heads and ad tools

Kapwing's avatar page says "Generate lip-synced videos from text prompts using 50+ stock avatars or an AI clone". Its UGC generator lets you upload product images, "then prompt your AI UGC creator to realistically hold, wear, or use it."

We can't give you one cost for those. The credits article lists lip sync at 30 credits a minute, and the app's credit list has Persona exports at the same rate. The app's estimate code also prices a talking-head model at 14 credits a second, and we couldn't tell which of these the avatar maker uses, so we've left talking actors out of the comparison.

For ads, Kapwing's ad generator page says "Upload a product photo and generate dynamic video ads or GIFs from 3-12 seconds long". Its video ad maker page says "Build 9:16 vertical ads that fit TikTok," and its resize tool has presets for TikTok and Reels. Since October 27, 2026, the Kapwing MCP, which you connect through Claude, ChatGPT or another chatbot, "now supports generative image and video calls".

Watermarks and exports, page by page

Kapwing's rules are simple on paid plans. On Free, its pages contradict each other.

On Pro and Business

On the pricing page, Pro's card says "No Kapwing watermark on your creations," and the comparison table lists watermark-free exports as "For all projects" on Pro, Business and Enterprise. Pro's card also says "Export projects up to 2 hours long", and Business includes everything in Pro.

Kapwing's AI video page advertises "Full commercial rights." Its terms say "You own the rights to the content you create and post on Kapwing." Its copyright help page, from March 15, 2023, warns that if you use a template or its image search, "your creation may fall under fair use but there is no guarantee that the images or videos are copyright or royalty free." So check those pieces before an ad runs.

On Free, Kapwing's pages disagree

We read these pages on November 5, 2026.

Kapwing pageWhat it says about watermarks on Free
Pricing page, Free card"Unlimited exports with a watermark"
Video ad maker page"If you are using Kapwing on a Free account then all exports will contain a watermark."
AI video generator page"Kapwing's AI Video Generator is free to try without watermarks."
Grok Imagine Video page"Videos downloaded directly from the Kai chat do not have watermarks, but if you move them to the Kapwing Studio to edit with additional tools, you will have a watermark on Kapwing's Free plan."
GPT Image page"Free generations include a watermark."
Nano Banana page"On a free account, exports include a Kapwing watermark."

The Grok page's sentence is the only one that explains the split on video, so that's the one we'd plan around. A clip downloaded straight from Kai may come out clean, but anything you then edit in the Studio on Free gets the watermark. We didn't test that, so check one export before you count on it.

Free credits and Pro's export resolution

Today's pricing page gives Free 10 credits, as does the credits article ("The Free Plan comes with 10 credits lifetime."). Kapwing's August 2026 release notes still say free users "now have 50 AI Credits". We're going with 10, from today's pages, which is under the 20 credits Kapwing gives as the floor for a video.

Kapwing's pages also disagree on Pro's export resolution. The pricing page and the video ad maker page say 4K. The plan FAQ, updated August 31, 2026, says "The Pro Plan lets you export in 1080p". We'd treat the pricing page as the plan's terms and ask Kapwing if 4K decides it for you. With clips generated at 720p, the export setting won't be what limits sharpness anyway.

How Kapwing's users rate it

Kapwing's ratings run from 1.8 to 4.88, depending on who collects them.

Trustpilot

Trustpilot showed 1.8 ("Poor") from 1,375 reviews when we read it on November 5, 2026. It counted 47 reviews in the last 12 months. Its star breakdown is 75% five-star and 16% one-star.

That low score next to a mostly five-star breakdown looks odd. Our reading (Trustpilot doesn't say this) is that the score leans on recent reviews. Nine of the ten newest, dated July 21 to October 16, 2026, gave one star. They complain about credits used up on simple jobs, glitches, a refused refund and missing support.

  • "I took all my credits for a simple task of a 1 min long video" (October 16, 2026)
  • "Not even the simplest of edits works without glitches and eating tons of credits." (July 21, 2026)
  • "Support is non existent." (August 10, 2026)
  • "It worked good, at first, then too many problems." (September 13, 2026)

The tenth, "Helpful video effects..." (September 8, 2026), gave five stars. Trustpilot's profile also says Kapwing "Hasn't replied to negative reviews". Ten reviews is a thin sample, but two of the four lines above mention credits, which fits the math earlier in this post.

Software Advice

We couldn't see Software Advice's live page, but an Internet Archive copy from September 13, 2026 shows 4.4 from 207 reviews. Customer support scores lowest, at 4.1. Its newest review is from April 2024, before Kapwing's credit pool existed, so we'd read it as a rating of the older product. We couldn't see G2 or Capterra either.

Kapwing's own 4.88

Kapwing's own pages carried a rating of 4.88 from 5,231 reviews when we read them on November 5, 2026. A search result may show it as stars. Kapwing collects those reviews itself, since its reviews page asks people to "leave us a review on Senja". For anything about credits, we'd weigh the recent Trustpilot reviews most, because Software Advice's newest predates credits and Kapwing gathers its own.

Where Novoads costs less and where it costs more

We make Novoads, so read this section with that in mind. Novoads turns a script or a product image into a video ad, and it's paid from the first month. We sell Seedance 2.5 and Seedance 2.0 too, so we won't claim our clips look better. What's left to compare is what each clip costs you at 720p.

The same clips, side by side

Our prices are as of November 5, 2026. In Novoads, the Seedance 2.5 clip is 210 credits, and Seedance 2.0's two 15-second clips are 136.

The Kapwing rows use Kapwing's own estimate. Every figure is credits times the rate in the second column, so it assumes you spend every credit. Starter's figure is only on paper, because one 210-credit take doesn't fit in its 200 credits.

A Kapwing credit and a Novoads credit buy different amounts of video, so it also helps to count what one month's credits make.

Where Kapwing costs less

  • Business billed yearly beats Plus billed monthly on both jobs, by $1.60 on the Seedance 2.5 clip and 96 cents on the Seedance 2.0 pair.
  • Pro billed yearly beats Starter's rate on both, by $4.63 and $2.90.
  • If you make one Seedance 2.5 clip a month, Pro is the smaller bill, at $24 a month or $192 a year. On our side, that clip needs Plus, at $49 a month or $468 a year.
  • Kapwing's Veo entry costs less than our Google Veo 3.1. Its 8-second clip with sound is 98 credits by its estimate, or $2.35 on Pro billed monthly. Ours is 72 credits at that length, or $3.53 on Plus. Going by its app's internal ID, Kapwing's entry runs a Fast version, so the two clips may not match.

Where Novoads costs less

  • Plus billed monthly beats Pro billed monthly by $6.39 on the Seedance 2.5 clip and $4.28 on the Seedance 2.0 pair.
  • It also beats Pro billed yearly, by 83 cents and 64 cents.
  • Plus billed yearly is the lowest line in the table, 50 cents under Business billed yearly on the Seedance 2.5 clip and 40 cents under on the pair.
  • Starter beats Pro billed monthly on the Seedance 2.0 pair by 74 cents, if one pair is all you make that month.
  • We also sell Seedance 2.0 Mini, a different model that Kai's menu doesn't list. In Novoads, two 15-second clips at 720p are 30 credits, or $1.47 on Plus.

A clip of ours

We didn't make a Kapwing render, so this clip is ours, made in Novoads on July 29, 2026, with the Seedance 2.0 that Kapwing also sells. One prompt with two shots made the 8-second vertical clip. At today's 720p price it costs 36 credits, about $1.76 on Plus. The woman in it speaks, and the model made her, so she isn't an actor from our library.

If most of each ad is generated, Plus covers four Seedance 2.5 clips a month, where Kapwing Pro covers one. You can cancel anytime from the customer portal, and our pricing FAQ says "All videos generated with Novoads are fully licensed for commercial use."

Two 15-second Seedance 2.0 clips at 720p come to 136 credits, which is $6.66 on Plus by our arithmetic. See what each plan's credits add up to.

Compare Novoads plans

Which one fits the ads you make

We think it comes down to how much of each ad you generate.

When Kapwing's the better buy

If you edit footage most of the month, we think Kapwing's the better fit. Pro's card lists a collaborative shared workspace, a Brand Kit and custom fonts. Subtitles, dubbing and resizing draw on the same credits as the odd generated clip. Kapwing also lists models we don't sell, such as MiniMax H3 and Happy Horse 1.0. And if one Seedance 2.5 clip a month is your plan, Pro is the smaller bill.

When Novoads is the better buy

If generated clips are most of what you're paying for, and you'll spend the credits, Plus costs less per clip than Pro on either billing cycle, with room for a retake. If you'd commit to Kapwing Business at $600 a year, compare it with Plus billed yearly at $468.

If you're still comparing tools

If your ads start from footage you've already shot, you may not need generated clips at all. Our OpusClip review and Descript review price tools built for that job. For other editors that also generate clips, we've looked at CapCut's plans and Seedance limits, CapCut against Descript and Canva's 8-second clip.

Before you pay Kapwing for a year, ask Kai for the model, length and resolution you'd actually use, and check its estimate against your plan's credits. If it's different from our table, go by what Kai shows you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Kapwing worth paying for if you make video ads?

It depends on how much of each ad you generate. Kapwing's pricing page shows Pro at $16 with 1,000 credits a month. Its plan FAQ says that's per member and billed yearly, at $192 a year. By the estimate in Kapwing's own app, one 30-second Seedance 2.5 clip at 720p uses 695 of those credits. We think Pro is fair value if you mostly edit footage and generate the odd clip, and thin if the generated clips are the ad itself. We read those pages from Spain on November 5, 2026, and we didn't test Kapwing.

Key Takeaways

  • Kapwing shows Pro at $16 per member a month billed yearly, which its plan FAQ puts at $192 a year. Billed monthly, it's $24. We read those prices from Spain on November 5, 2026, and we didn't get as far as the checkout.
  • Pro comes with 1,000 credits a month and Business with 4,000, and since December 1, 2025, Kapwing's tools have shared one pool. Kapwing's pricing page lists buying more credits as a Business feature.
  • By the estimate in Kapwing's own app, a 30-second Seedance 2.5 clip at 720p uses 695 credits, and two 15-second Seedance 2.0 clips use 456. On Pro billed monthly, that's $16.68 and $10.94 by our arithmetic.
  • Kapwing's pricing page says paid plans carry no Kapwing watermark. On Free, its pages disagree, and one says clips downloaded straight from its Kai chat stay clean until you edit them in the Studio.
  • Trustpilot showed 1.8 from 1,375 reviews on November 5, 2026. Nine of the ten newest gave one star. An archive copy of Software Advice's page from September 13 showed 4.4 from 207 reviews.
  • On the same Seedance 2.5 clip, Novoads Plus billed monthly comes to $10.29, against $11.12 on Kapwing Pro billed yearly. Kapwing Business billed yearly beats that at $8.69, and only Plus billed yearly comes in under it, at $8.19.
