MakeUGC Review 2026: 300+ Actors on Starter and Who It Fits
A dated MakeUGC review for advertisers, built from its own pages and public ratings rather than hands-on use: what its AI actors do well, what Starter's 300+ actors, 720p ceiling and one-at-a-time queue leave out, and who it fits.

Cheap at volume, narrow at the door
On MakeUGC, Starter gets 300+ AI actors and Pro gets 1,000+. That split, as MakeUGC's pricing page showed it on October 21, 2026, is most of this review. MakeUGC suits a team that ships talking-actor ads every week and pays for a year up front: at the credit rate in MakeUGC's own docs, Starter billed yearly works out to $5.80 a video. It suits a buyer of one or two ads a month much less. The smallest monthly bill is $59, and the entry plan exports at 720p at most, one video at a time.
We have not used MakeUGC hands-on. This review is built from MakeUGC's own pages as they read on October 21, 2026, three archived copies of its pricing page, dated public ratings, and our own render of the same ad type in Novoads. Where a point needs an account to check, such as how real the actors look, we say it is MakeUGC's claim.
What MakeUGC is in October 2026
A studio built around the talking actor
MakeUGC makes UGC-style video ads with AI actors, digital presenters who read your script to camera. Its homepage lists the ways in: "Pick one of 1,000+ AI actors, clone yourself, choose a video model, or skip all of that and start with a prompt, a product URL or a reference ad." The talking actor sits at the center, and MakeUGC's API docs say so plainly: "MakeUGC 1.0 is the talking-creator model in Studio."
Around that core, the plan cards on the pricing page list the same tools, except that Batch Mode starts at Growth:
- AdFlow templates, from 200+ on Starter to all of them on Pro
- Content Library and Ad Remake, which remakes an existing ad with your product
- Product in Hand and Motion Control, so actors show your product on camera
- AI Flows, which chain prompts, actors and models on a canvas, and, on Growth and Pro, Batch Mode for variations from one brief
- API and MCP access, which the pricing FAQ says "are included in every plan at no extra cost"
What changed on the pricing page in early October
The pricing page was rebuilt between two archived copies, one captured on October 7, 2026 and one on October 10. In the October 7 copy the entry plan was called Start up and cost $59 a month for 500 credits. In the October 10 copy the same slot is Starter, still with 500 credits a month, and these lines changed, among others:
- the name, from Start up to Starter
- the actors, from "1000+ realistic AI creators" to "300+ AI actors"
- the queue, from parallel generation of "up to 10 videos and 10 images" to "1 generation at a time per media type"
- the exports, from "Export in HD, 2K, and 4K" to "480p, 720p"
The live page we read on October 21 matched the October 10 copy on all four of these.
300+ is not a new number for MakeUGC. A September 2025 copy of the same page already listed "300+ realistic AI creators". What changed in October is the ladder: 300+ actors on Starter, 500+ on Growth and 1,000+ on Pro, where the October 7 page listed 1000+ on the entry plan.
Our reading: at the same $59 monthly price, the entry plan now lists fewer actors, smaller exports and a one-at-a-time queue than it did two weeks earlier.

What MakeUGC does well for ads
A deep bench of actors and languages
Library size is MakeUGC's clearest strength. Pro lists 1,000+ AI actors and Growth 500+, and every plan lists 50+ languages, described as "Native-sounding voices with matching lip-sync." Growth adds one custom avatar of yourself and Pro three, each made from "a short clip of you", and the comparison table also lists voice cloning for your own scripts, included from Growth up.
For a brand that wants a different face for each audience, that breadth is hard to match, and it is a row we concede. If you need the opposite, one face across many variations, see how to keep one AI actor consistent. How real MakeUGC's actors look is something we cannot judge without an account; our post on where AI UGC realism comes from explains why every tool claims it.
Product in hand and other ways to start
MakeUGC answers the product question on its talking-actor page: "Yes. Upload a product photo and the actor holds and shows it while they talk." Every plan card lists Product in Hand. You can also start from a product URL or a reference ad instead of a script, or remake an existing ad with your product.
That set suits a team that copies formats already working in its account. We have not tested how well a product renders in an actor's hands.
Fast renders, and a low price per video at volume
MakeUGC says a talking-actor video takes "About two minutes to render." After that you can edit captions, music, B-roll and trims and export "in up to 4K". Mind the scope: 4K sits on Growth and Pro, since Starter exports at 480p or 720p. We could not time a render ourselves.
The price per video drops fast with volume. MakeUGC's API docs say a talking-actor generation "costs 1 API credit unit (100 displayed credits)". At that rate, Growth's 1,000 monthly credits make ten videos, and at $39 a month billed yearly that is $3.90 a video. That is the number to beat if you make ten or more a month.
Where MakeUGC falls short
Starter is a narrow slice of the product
The comparison table on the pricing page, read on October 21, 2026, puts these limits on Starter:
- 300+ AI actors, against 1,000+ on Pro
- exports at 480p or 720p, where Growth and Pro list HD, 2K and 4K
- one generation at a time per media type, against 10 videos and 10 images on Growth
- no custom avatar of yourself: 0 on Starter, 1 on Growth, 3 on Pro
- 15+ premium models and 200+ AdFlow templates, against all of both on Pro
Those per-plan counts are the pricing page's. We have not checked which actors a Starter account sees inside the product.
The billing terms put the work on you
MakeUGC's billing terms, each from its own pages:
- The pricing page opens with "Try any plan for $1." It says your checkout shows the trial length and renewal amount, and that the plan "renews at the plan price unless you cancel from your account."
- The trial policy, effective January 2, 2026, limits the $1 trial to "one (1) trial per individual or per legal entity".
- If MakeUGC decides a trial was abused, the same policy lets it "immediately charge the full monthly subscription fee applicable to the plan selected at signup".
- The refund policy, last updated September 4, 2025, offers a full refund if you notify MakeUGC within three business days of a purchase or renewal, "provided credits have not been substantially consumed."
- Credits "refresh monthly and do not roll over."
Our reading: none of these terms is unusual for a credit tool, but together they reward the buyer who sets a reminder before each renewal.
What the public ratings show
On October 21, 2026, Trustpilot's page for MakeUGC read: "This company’s rating is unavailable due to a breach of our guidelines." Under the heading "Breach of guidelines", it added: "We’ve removed a number of fake reviews for this company." The page counted 198 reviews, 139 of them from the last 12 months, split 43% five-star, 0% four-star, 2% three-star, 2% two-star and 53% one-star. The first four topics under its Top mentions were Cancellation, Subscription, Spam and Refund.
Our reading: three of those four topics are about money and cancelling, so the billing terms above matter as much as the videos.
One more rating needs placing. The 5.0 on the Shopify App Store, from 2 ratings when we read it on October 21, belongs to a separate MakeUGC app, "MakeUGC Shoppable Videos & UGC", built for shoppable videos on a store. It tells you nothing about the AI ad studio.
Long scripts and pages that disagree
MakeUGC's product overview, a page it labels "LLM / retrieval reference", recommends scripts under 60 to 90 seconds to prevent lip-sync drift. A long testimonial may need splitting into parts. The same page describes "over 500+ realistic AI actors" and says API access is "Available on higher-tier plans and enterprise configurations", while the pricing page lists 1,000+ actors on Pro and API access on every plan. We treat the pricing page as the current word, since it is the page that sells the plans.
What MakeUGC costs, in short
On October 21, 2026, the pricing page opened on annual billing, with these plans:
- Starter: $59 a month on monthly billing, $41 billed quarterly or $29 billed yearly (Save 51%), for 500 credits a month
- Growth: $79, $55 or $39 a month, for 1,000 credits a month
- Pro: $149, $104 or $79 a month, listing 2,000 to 5,000 credits a month
At the docs rate of 100 credits a talking-actor video, Starter billed yearly is a $348 commitment for 60 videos a year. Our MakeUGC pricing breakdown walks through every plan and billing period in full.
Who MakeUGC fits, and who should look elsewhere
MakeUGC fits when
- you publish talking-actor ads every week and can pay quarterly or yearly, where the docs rate puts Starter at $8.20 a video or less
- you want many faces and languages: 1,000+ actors on Pro and 50+ languages on every plan
- your ad needs the actor holding the product, or you remake ads that already work
- you automate production, since API and MCP access come with every plan
Look elsewhere when
- you need one or two ads a month: the smallest monthly bill is $59, for five videos' worth of credits
- you need HD or 4K exports, more than one render at a time, or an avatar of yourself without paying for Growth
- you want time to test before your money is at stake: the full-refund window is three business days and requires that credits have not been substantially consumed
- your ads run longer than 60 to 90 seconds, given MakeUGC's own lip-sync advice

How Novoads makes the same talking-actor ad
Our run: a 12-second Spanish ad for 200 credits
On October 9, 2026, we made a 12-second Spanish talking-actor ad in Novoads at 720p. Library actor Nadia, voiced by Anita - Conversational, sits in a bedroom with her hair in a towel and talks to her phone camera about adding a vitamin C serum before moisturizer. The finished 12.3-second video came back in 87 seconds and was billed as one started minute: 200 credits. To check the language, we ran it through whisper.cpp, which detected Spanish on its own (p = 0.9993) and returned the script word for word.
Talking actor · library actor Nadia reads a 12-second Spanish script about adding a vitamin C serum before moisturizer, made through the Novoads connector · 200 credits at 720p · rendered 2026-10-09
We could not run the same script through MakeUGC, since we have no account there, so this is one side of the comparison: ours.
What a 30-second talking ad costs on each side
Novoads bills a talking actor per started minute: 200 credits at 720p and 100 at 480p. A 30-second ad therefore costs 200 credits, which is all of a Starter month ($15 for 200 credits) or $9.80 of a Plus plan ($49 for 1,000 credits). A 60-second ad costs the same 200 credits, and the 480p option halves either one to 100.
MakeUGC's docs put a talking-actor generation at 100 credits, so Starter's 500 credits make five videos a month. The arithmetic for both, on the plan that fits each volume, with Novoads at its 720p default:
| Talking ads a month | MakeUGC | Novoads |
|---|---|---|
| 1, monthly billing | Starter, $59 | Starter, $15 |
| 5, monthly billing | Starter, $59 ÷ 5 = $11.80 | Plus, $9.80 each |
| 5, billed yearly | Starter, $29 ÷ 5 = $5.80 | Plus, $39 ÷ 5 = $7.80 |
From ten a month, MakeUGC's Growth makes ten for $79 on monthly billing, $7.90 each. On monthly billing our 720p price on the Ultra plans runs $8.33 to $8.60 a video with every credit used ($129 ÷ 15 on Ultra 3,000, $250 ÷ 30 on Ultra 6,000), while Plus at 480p makes ten for $4.90 each if 480p suits the placement.
Verdict on price: MakeUGC is cheaper per talking-actor video at volume. From five a month on yearly billing, or ten a month on monthly billing, its docs rate beats our 720p price. Novoads is cheaper at the door: $15 makes one 720p talking ad, or two at 480p, where MakeUGC's smallest monthly bill is $59. At five a month on monthly billing, Plus at $9.80 an ad also undercuts MakeUGC's Starter at $11.80.
Two caveats keep this from being like for like. MakeUGC publishes the 100-credit rate in its API docs, and its pricing FAQ says credits are shared across the studio and API, but we could not see the studio's own charge without an account. And the files differ: MakeUGC's Starter tops out at 720p while Growth and Pro list up to 4K, and its limits page charges the Omi-Human option 200 credits for 15 to 30 seconds, double the talking-actor rate.
Where Novoads fits instead
Novoads' library is smaller. Our UGC ads page lists 100+ faces and 29+ languages, against MakeUGC's 300+ actors on Starter alone and 50+ languages on every plan.

Three things to know before you pick Novoads for this job:
- Product in hand takes a step. A Novoads library actor has empty hands. To show your product in hand, you upload a photo of someone holding it and turn it into a custom actor, or start from a Discover product template, which places your product in the template creator's hand before the video renders.
- Other formats price by the clip. Beyond the talking actor, the video models run from about 25 cents for a five-second Seedance 2.0 Mini clip to about $4 for an eight-second Google Veo 3.1 clip, and about $10 for a full 30-second Seedance 2.5 take, at the Plus rate.
- Every price is public. Every plan sits on our pricing page, and our Novoads vs MakeUGC comparison runs the full head-to-head.
MakeUGC is a volume tool, not an entry plan
MakeUGC's best case is a team that buys a year of credits and spends them every week on talking-actor tests across many faces and languages. At that pace its own rate, $5.80 a video on Starter and $3.90 on Growth billed yearly, is hard to beat. Its weakest case is the buyer it courts first: a $1 start on a plan that lists 300+ actors, 720p at most and one render at a time. Count the ads you will really ship each month before you choose, and read the renewal terms either way.
If one or two ads a month is your pace, see how Novoads makes UGC ads.
