The $0.048 FLUX image is smaller than a square feed ad
Black Forest Labs (BFL), the lab that makes the FLUX models, lists FLUX 3 Image at $0.048 an image at its 1K tier, which it defines as about one megapixel. When we checked the US results for "flux ai pricing" on November 6, 2026, BFL's page came in fourth. Three of the top five results were flux.ai, a circuit-board design tool that only shares the name, and the remaining spot went to flux-ai.io, a site that sells its own credit packs.
BFL's page, once you find it, doesn't answer the question an ad maker actually has. A 1080 x 1080 ad has more pixels than the 1K tier, so under BFL's own rule for exact sizes, it bills one tier up, at $0.07.
We read BFL's pricing page, docs, release notes and help center, the FLUX 3 Image pages on fal, OpenRouter and Replicate, and an archived copy of fal's launch page, all on November 6, 2026, from Spain. The Novoads side comes from our own price list and an image run we made in September. We didn't generate anything with FLUX for this post.
What FLUX 3 Image costs on BFL, tier by tier
Prices as of November 6, 2026, from BFL's pricing page, per image.
| Tier | Output size, as BFL describes it | FLUX 3 Image | FLUX 3 Image Klein |
|---|---|---|---|
| 768 x 768 | about 0.6 megapixels | $0.041 | $0.008 |
| 1K | about 1 megapixel (1024 x 1024 equivalent) | $0.048 | $0.009 |
| 1.5K | about 2 megapixels | $0.07 | $0.011 |
| 2K | about 4 megapixels | $0.10 | $0.014 |
| 4K | about 16 megapixels | $0.607 | $0.036 |
FLUX 3 Image is the model in our title, and our FLUX 3 explainer covers what it does. Klein is a smaller model. BFL's release notes call it a 5.6B-parameter version of FLUX 3 Image with open weights, and it has prices of its own. So $0.048 only ever means FLUX 3 Image at 1K.
One image at about a megapixel
In BFL's table, 1K is a size. It means about one megapixel, the area of a 1024 x 1024 image. At that size, one image costs $0.048. It's also what you get when a request doesn't name a size, because BFL's API defaults to 1K.
Edits cost the same. BFL's pricing page says charges apply equally to text-to-image and image-to-image generations, and that reference images and prompts are included at no extra charge.
These are list prices, before tax or anything else a checkout adds. We didn't reach BFL's checkout for this post, so we can't tell you what a buyer in your country pays on top. If you need volume, BFL's enterprise offer lists custom pricing and volume discounts through its sales team.
Buying BFL credits
You pay BFL with credits you buy up front, and each image draws down your balance.
- BFL's docs put a credit at $0.01 USD, so the prices in the table are in US dollars.
- Its pricing page says there are no subscriptions and no seat fees.
- Its help center calls API credits a one-time purchase (not a subscription) that you can add from your dashboard at any time.
- Its API terms say credit purchases are non-refundable, in both the EU version and the version for everyone outside the EU.
So there's no plan to cancel on BFL's side, and it's worth buying credits in amounts you'll actually use.
The launch price hasn't changed
BFL added FLUX 3 Image to its API on October 1, 2026, and its release note for that day lists the 1K price at $0.048. The Internet Archive's copy of the pricing page from October 15, 2026, shows the same $0.048 for a 1K image, and BFL's October 22 note says "Prices are unchanged." So BFL hasn't changed the 1K price since launch. The launch note lists four tiers and leaves out 1.5K, though, so the $0.07 in our table comes from today's pricing page alone.
BFL bills FLUX.2 [pro] by the megapixel
BFL also sells FLUX.2 [pro], which it prices differently. The first megapixel costs $0.03, and each megapixel after that costs $0.015. For FLUX.2, BFL rounds each image up to the next whole megapixel and counts 1024 x 1024 pixels as one. Reference images cost $0.015 a megapixel on FLUX.2 [pro]. On FLUX 3 Image, they're included in the price.
Which tier a feed ad bills at
BFL's docs say that when a request sets a width and height, it's billed "at the smallest tier with at least as many pixels." We applied that rule to four common feed sizes from our static ads guide. The pixel counts and tiers in the table are our arithmetic on BFL's rules, and so is the FLUX.2 [pro] column. Prices as of November 6, 2026.
| Feed ad size | Pixels | FLUX 3 Image tier | FLUX 3 Image | FLUX.2 [pro] |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1200 x 628 (landscape) | 753,600 | 1K | $0.048 | $0.03 |
| 1080 x 1080 (square) | 1,166,400 | 1.5K | $0.07 | $0.045 |
| 1080 x 1350 (4:5 portrait) | 1,458,000 | 1.5K | $0.07 | $0.045 |
| 1080 x 1920 (9:16 vertical) | 2,073,600 | 1.5K or 2K | $0.07 or $0.10 | not settled |
Square and 4:5 ads land one tier up
A square 1080 x 1080 ad has 1,166,400 pixels. The 1K tier is about 1,048,576 pixels (1024 x 1024). So a default 1K image comes out smaller than a square feed ad, and an exact square request bills at 1.5K. The 4:5 portrait size, at 1,458,000 pixels, lands in the same tier. On both sizes, you pay $0.07 an image, about 46% more than the 1K price.
FLUX.2 [pro] comes out cheaper on these two sizes. For a text-to-image request with no reference images, BFL rounds each of them up to two megapixels, which costs $0.045. On FLUX.2 [pro], the landscape size fits in one megapixel, at $0.03.
The 9:16 size falls in a gap
A 1080 x 1920 image has 2,073,600 pixels. BFL calls its 1.5K tier "about 2 megapixels," and whether that's more or less than the image depends on how you count a megapixel. BFL's own pages count it two ways.
- Its pricing page puts a 1920 x 1080 frame at 1.98 megapixels, which works out to 1,048,576 pixels per megapixel.
- Its help center puts the same frame at 2.07MP, which works out to a million pixels per megapixel.
By the first count, an exact 1080 x 1920 request fits in 1.5K at $0.07. By the second, it spills into 2K at $0.10. We didn't find a BFL page that gives the 1.5K tier's exact pixel count, so we can't tell you which way it goes. Either way, it can't cost more than $0.10, because the 2K tier covers about 4 megapixels.
Asking for a tier instead of a size
There's a way around the gap. BFL's pricing page says you select the tier in the request, and that "all supported aspect ratios within a tier are charged the same." BFL's API lists 9:16 among its aspect ratios. Ask for a 9:16 image at the 1.5K tier and it costs $0.07, whatever its exact pixel count. Then you resize it to 1080 x 1920.
BFL also says it rounds delivered dimensions to multiples of 16, so an exact size can come back a few pixels off. By our arithmetic, that rounding doesn't push any of the four sizes into another tier. And BFL's docs say the response to each request includes its cost, so your first call will show you which tier you were billed at.
If you're weighing FLUX against another model, our GPT Image 2 pricing guide works out the cost of a square, a portrait and a 9:16 ad too.
The same FLUX 3 Image on fal, OpenRouter and Replicate
Prices as of November 6, 2026, from each host's FLUX 3 Image page, read once from Spain. Any of them can change.
| Where you buy it | 1K | 1.5K | 2K |
|---|---|---|---|
| Black Forest Labs | $0.048 | $0.07 | $0.10 |
| fal | $0.048 | not listed | not listed |
| OpenRouter | $0.048 | $0.07 | $0.10 |
| Replicate | $0.024 | $0.035 | $0.05 |
fal's $0.024 was a launch promotion
fal launched FLUX 3 Image at half price. Its page on October 1, 2026, as the Internet Archive saved it, priced a 1K image at $0.024. It called that a promotional launch rate, 50% off for a limited time. The same page said the discount would end October 8, after which a 1K image would cost $0.048. That's the price fal lists today, and its page doesn't give a FLUX 3 Image price for any tier but 1K.
So if you've seen $0.024 for FLUX 3 Image on fal, that was the launch offer.
Replicate lists every tier at half BFL's price
Replicate lists FLUX 3 Image under Black Forest Labs' name and marks it Official. Its price is half of BFL's on every tier, from $0.0205 to $0.3035 an image. We found no promotion, end date or reason for the gap on Replicate's page. On these numbers, Replicate is the cheapest of the four places we looked at, though that's one day's reading.
OpenRouter matches BFL's list prices
OpenRouter lists BFL's prices on every tier, from $0.041 to $0.607 an image. It says its pricing is a flat per-image rate that scales with the resolution tier you choose, and that one provider hosts the model, with every request forwarded to it directly. Its model page also shows what customers paid on average, and OpenRouter says caching and discounts mean the price actually paid is often well below the listed one. So if you see a lower number on that page, it's the average customers paid. The listed prices are the ones in our table.
Sites that only borrow the name
Not every Flux on the results page sells BFL's model.
- flux.ai, which took three of the top five spots, is a circuit-board design tool. Its own site describes electronics schematics, part selection and circuit checks, and its plans are for that tool, so none of them tells you what FLUX costs.
- flux-ai.io sells FLUX images through credit packs of its own. It says its models were developed by Black Forest Labs, but it doesn't state any tie of its own to the company.
- flux1.ai sells plans and credits of its own, and it says it isn't affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Black Forest Labs.
Their plans and packs aren't BFL's per-image prices, so we haven't put them in our tables. If a page isn't on bfl.ai or one of the hosts above, read its terms before you count its price as FLUX's.
What a month of feed ads costs
The totals are our arithmetic on the list prices above, for 100 or 500 images a month at one tier. Prices as of November 6, 2026.
| Images a month | Tier | At BFL | At Replicate |
|---|---|---|---|
| 100 | 1K (landscape) | $4.80 | $2.40 |
| 100 | 1.5K (square or 4:5) | $7 | $3.50 |
| 100 | 2K | $10 | $5 |
| 500 | 1K (landscape) | $24 | $12 |
| 500 | 1.5K (square or 4:5) | $35 | $17.50 |
| 500 | 2K | $50 | $25 |
Reading the table for a mixed month
If your month mixes sizes, add it up row by row. At BFL's list price, 200 square ads come to $14. Add 100 landscape ads and the total reaches $18.80. On Replicate, the same mix comes to $9.40.
Each row assumes one generation per ad you keep. If you make three or four versions of each ad before you pick one, multiply the row by the number of versions, because BFL bills each of them.
What the table leaves out
- BFL bills every image it generates, so the drafts you throw away count along with the ads you run.
- Rejected requests, failed generations and images withheld by moderation aren't charged, so they don't add to the total.
- Tax isn't in these figures, and neither is anything else a checkout adds.
- The time it takes to write the prompts, call the API and resize what comes back isn't in them either.
Vertical ads are the least certain part of the month. If you send them at exact size, a month of 500 vertical images lands on either the 1.5K row or the 2K row, and BFL's pages don't say which. Budget them at $0.10 until your first call shows which tier BFL billed. By our arithmetic, generating one image at each size in our table costs $0.258 to $0.288 at BFL's list price.
Where Novoads fits, and where it costs more
We don't sell FLUX
Novoads doesn't offer any FLUX model. The image models in our app include Nano Banana Pro, GPT Image 2.6, GPT Image 2.5, Seedream 5 Lite and Seedream 5 Pro, each priced in credits that come with a monthly plan.
The strip below is a real run of ours, made with Nano Banana Pro in Novoads in September. It's four 4:5 static ads for our own merch cap with Spanish headlines, one generation each. It isn't FLUX output, and we didn't run FLUX beside it.

Made in Novoads with Nano Banana Pro · four 4:5 static ads at 2K for one cap, Spanish headlines, one generation each · 8 credits, 2 an image · rendered 2026-09-01
Per image, BFL's list price is lower
Our prices as of November 7, 2026. In Novoads, Nano Banana Pro costs 2 credits an image at 1K or 2K. A credit is 7.5 cents on Starter and 4.9 cents on Plus. So that image costs 15 cents on Starter and about 10 cents on Plus.
At 1K, BFL's list price is about a third of our Starter price per image and about half of our Plus price. Image for image, BFL's raw API costs less than Novoads does.
The gap closes at 2K. With both sides set to 2K, BFL's $0.10 is level with our 2 credits on Plus. Our cheapest images (GPT Image 2, GPT Image 2.5 and GPT Image 2.6 at low or medium quality, or Seedream 5 Lite) take 1 credit, about 5 cents on Plus. That's level with BFL's 1K price.
Our strip's four 2K images cost 8 credits. That's 60 cents on Starter or about 39 cents on Plus. At BFL's list price, four 2K images of FLUX 3 Image come to 40 cents. These are different models, so the comparison here is about price alone. Our dollar figures assume you're on monthly billing and spend every credit in the month. On annual billing, Plus is $39 a month, which brings its credit price down.

Our pricing page with Monthly selected · Starter, Plus and Ultra, each with the Nano Banana Pro images its credits make · captured 2026-11-06
| Plan | Price a month | Credits a month | Nano Banana Pro images at 1K or 2K | Per image |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $15 | 200 | 100 | 15 cents |
| Plus | $49 | 1,000 | 500 | about 10 cents |
At BFL's list price, 500 square ads cost $35 a month. On Plus, 500 Nano Banana Pro images use all 1,000 of the month's credits.
What you're paying for with a plan
With a raw API, you buy an image and the rest of the ad is up to you. You write the code that calls it, keep track of the prompts, resize each output and turn the still into an ad. We think that work, more than the image price, is what stops a team without a developer.
Novoads is an ad maker.
- You upload a product image or write a script, pick an AI actor and get an ad-ready video.
- The same credits also cover product photos, voiceovers and static ads.
- On Plus, for one, our pricing page lists 100+ AI actors and up to 25 UGC videos a month.
- We publish every model's credit price on our pricing page. Novoads is paid from the first month, and you can cancel anytime.
See what an ad costs before you make it
Every plan lists its credits per model. A Nano Banana Pro image is 15 cents on Starter and about 10 cents on Plus.
See the plansIf you need a few hundred stills a month and you're happy calling an API, BFL or Replicate will cost you less than we do. If you want the still, the video and the voice in one place, from one balance of credits, that's what a Novoads plan is for.
Frequently Asked Questions
What company makes Flux AI?
Black Forest Labs makes the FLUX image models, FLUX 3 Image among them, and sells them through its own API at bfl.ai. Other products use the name too. When we checked the US results for flux ai pricing on November 6, 2026, three of the top five were flux.ai, a circuit-board design tool that only shares the name, and one was flux-ai.io, a site that sells its own credit packs. Neither site's plans tell you what Black Forest Labs charges.
How do I cancel Flux AI?
If you buy API credits from Black Forest Labs, there's no subscription to cancel. Its help center calls API credits a one-time purchase (not a subscription), and its pricing page says there are no subscriptions or seat fees. Its API terms also say credit purchases are non-refundable, so buy what you'll actually use. BFL's licenses to run its models on your own infrastructure are subscriptions, and its help center has a separate article on canceling them. If you're on a monthly plan from flux.ai or another site with Flux in its name, you cancel it with that company.
What is the cost of Flux?
As of November 6, 2026, FLUX 3 Image costs $0.048 an image on Black Forest Labs' own API. That's the price at the 1K tier, about one megapixel. Its tiers run from $0.041 to $0.607 an image. The smaller FLUX 3 Image Klein runs from $0.008 to $0.036. These are list prices in US dollars, before tax.
Does Black Forest Labs charge for failed images?
No. BFL's pricing page says rejected requests, failed generations and outputs withheld by moderation aren't charged. But every image BFL does generate is billed at its tier, whether or not you use it in an ad.
Key Takeaways
- Black Forest Labs lists FLUX 3 Image at $0.048 an image at its 1K tier, which is about one megapixel. That's a list price in US dollars, before tax, and the model launched at that price on October 1, 2026.
- Under BFL's rule for exact sizes, a 1200 x 628 ad bills at 1K. Square and 4:5 feed ads have more pixels than the 1K tier covers, so they bill one tier up, at $0.07.
- BFL's pages don't settle which tier an exact 1080 x 1920 image bills at. Asking for the 1.5K tier at 9:16 instead pins the price at $0.07.
- fal and OpenRouter list the same $0.048 at 1K, and Replicate lists every tier at half BFL's price. The $0.024 on fal was a launch promotion, and fal's page said it would end October 8.
- Novoads doesn't sell FLUX. A Nano Banana Pro image in our app costs 15 cents on Starter and about 10 cents on Plus, so BFL's API is cheaper per image. With a plan, you get one credit balance for product photos, video ads, talking actors and voiceovers.
