OpenArt Alternatives for Ads: What One 5-Second Clip Costs
OpenArt allows commercial use only from its $34 Plus plan, so we priced one 5-second clip on Higgsfield, Kling, Krea, Runway and Novoads and checked which entry plan lets you run it as an ad.

OpenArt's ad rights start on the $34 plan
OpenArt's Terms of Service let you use what you generate for commercial purposes only on Plus and the plans above it. Plus costs $34 a month billed monthly, so a video made on the $14 Starter plan isn't one you're allowed to run as an ad. We think that's why so many ad makers go looking for an OpenArt alternative.
So we priced one 5-second clip on five alternatives and checked which entry plan lets you run it as an ad. We haven't used OpenArt ourselves, and we don't have an account there. Every price here comes from each vendor's own pages, read signed out from Spain on October 28, 2026, and the Novoads side is our own run.
A quick pick by the kind of ad you make
- For the cheapest plan here that allows ads, buy from Kling itself. Its Standard plan allows commercial use, and a 720p clip without audio comes to $0.40 by our math.
- For many models on one plan, the closest swap, we think, is Higgsfield. Its Starter plan, €19 a month for a visitor from Spain, already allows commercial use.
- For mostly images with some video, Krea's $9 Basic plan carries a commercial license.
- For Runway's own models and its ad tool, Runway allows commercial use on every plan, and Standard costs $15 a month.
- For a clip built around one product photo, Novoads turned a single still into a 10-second Seedance 2.0 Mini clip for 10 credits in our run.
- To stay on OpenArt, buy Plus, the cheapest plan whose terms allow commercial use.
Prices as of October 28, 2026.
| Tool | Cheapest paid plan, billed monthly | Ads on that plan | One 5-second clip on it | Free plan |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| OpenArt | Starter, $14 | No, only Plus ($34) and up | Not shown signed out | 40 trial credits for 7 days |
| Higgsfield | Starter, €19 in Spain | Yes | About €0.49 to €0.53, Kling 3.0 at 720p | Carries a watermark |
| Kling | Standard, $8.8 after a $6.99 first month | Yes | $0.40, Kling 3.0 at 720p, no audio | Not for commercial use |
| Krea | Basic, $9 | Yes | $0.47, Kling 2.5 | 100 units a day |
| Runway | Standard, $15 | Yes, on every plan | $1.44, Gen-4.5 | Images carry a watermark |
Each clip price is our own arithmetic on the vendor's plan price and the credits it lists for that clip. The model and resolution change from row to row because we couldn't find one model priced as a 5-second clip on all five tools.
We'd have priced Pollo AI too, but its pricing page wouldn't load for us on October 28, so it's left out. We compared it with six other tools in our Pollo AI alternatives post.

What pushes ad makers off OpenArt
Commercial use starts at Plus
OpenArt does build for ads. Its Director menu has UGC Ads, Product Ads and Branding Ads modes, and your plan decides whether you can run what they make. OpenArt's own pages mostly agree on where that line is.
- The terms, last updated July 30, 2026, give every plan non-commercial use and add commercial use from the Plus level up. The grant also depends on following the rest of the terms, the watermark rules included.
- The help center says commercial use is available on Plus and above.
- The pricing page lists commercial use rights on the Plus, Pro and Wonder cards, and not on Starter.
- One older FAQ answer still says you can use any image you created for commercial purposes, without naming a plan.
We'd plan around the terms, since they're what you agree to when you sign up. So the cheapest OpenArt plan for ads is Plus, at $34 a month billed monthly or $27 billed annually. It comes with 12,000 credits a month, three times what Starter gets. We go through all four OpenArt plans in our OpenArt pricing breakdown.
Forty trial credits, and a watermark described two ways
New OpenArt accounts get 40 trial credits to use within 7 days. OpenArt's help center puts a video at 100 to 800 or more credits, so by its own guide those trial credits don't cover a single video. And like Starter, the trial doesn't include commercial use.
The watermark is murkier. OpenArt's help center says free users can't remove the watermark from their videos, and its terms say free-plan output may carry a visible one. Yet OpenArt's own OpenArt vs Kling page says the free trial comes with no watermark. We'd go by the help center and the terms, and expect a watermark until you pay.
Per-model prices only after you sign in
We couldn't find what a given model costs on any OpenArt page we could read without an account. The help center gives rough ranges instead, 5 to 50 credits for an image plus the video range above. It also says the app shows the credit cost before you generate. So you learn what a clip costs on OpenArt only after you sign up, which is why our OpenArt clip figures come from OpenArt's own published test rather than a live price.
3.5 stars from 1,636 Trustpilot reviews
On Trustpilot, OpenArt scored 3.5 from 1,636 reviews, read October 28, 2026. Thirty percent of those reviews give it one star. Our OpenArt review goes through what those reviewers say and the billing rules behind their complaints.

Five OpenArt alternatives, checked for ads
We asked the same four things of each tool.
- What's its cheapest paid plan?
- Does that plan allow ads?
- What does one clip cost on it?
- What does it do for an ad?
Higgsfield allows ads from its cheapest plan
Higgsfield showed us a Starter plan at €19 a month for 270 credits, the same price whether you bill monthly or annually. Higgsfield serves different price lists by region and device, so yours may differ, and we mapped the four we found in our Higgsfield pricing guide. Its own October 18 post lists Starter at $15 a month for 200 credits.
Higgsfield's plan comparison marks commercial use as included on Starter and every plan above it. Its help center says free accounts get a watermark on every generation and paid plans don't. Higgsfield lists a Kling 3.0 clip at 720p at about 7 credits. On Starter that's about €0.49 to €0.53 a clip by our math. If you're shown the dollar lineup from that October 18 post instead, the same clip comes to about 53 cents at the listed 7 credits.
Starter doesn't include Seedance 2.0 at 720p. It gets Seedance 2.0 Fast and Mini instead. For an ad, Higgsfield Ads is on every plan, while its UGC builder starts at Plus. We put the two tools head to head in Higgsfield vs OpenArt.
Kling's own Standard plan allows ads for $8.8 a month
Kling's Standard plan gives you 660 credits a month for $8.8. The first month costs $6.99, an offer Kling makes once. Kling's credit guide, dated July 28, 2026, lists brand watermark removal, 1080p video and commercial use on Standard. The same guide says content made on the $0 Basic plan isn't for commercial use.
Kling's model guide, dated February 6, 2026, prices Kling 3.0 by the second.
- At 720p without native audio, a 5-second clip is 30 credits, or $0.40 on Standard by our math.
- At 1080p with native audio, the same clip is 60 credits, or $0.80.
The first month's lower price brings those two clips to about 32 and 64 cents. For an ad, the native audio option means the sound comes out of the same render as the picture. Our post on whether Kling AI is free covers what the $0 plan can and can't do.
Krea covers ads from its $9 Basic plan
Krea's Basic plan costs $9 a month billed monthly, or $5.25 a month billed yearly. It comes with 5,000 compute units a month. Krea's pricing FAQ says Basic and every plan above it include a commercial license, and it names advertising among the uses.
Krea's price table lists Kling 3.0 only as a 3-second clip. Its closest 5-second option is Kling 2.5, at about 19 clips a month on Basic. That works out to about $0.47 a clip billed monthly, or 28 cents on the yearly price, by our math.
For an ad, Krea pitches Basic at about 112 Nano Banana 2 images or about 15 Seedance 2.0 Fast videos a month, so we'd use it for image-heavy work. Its free plan and the rest of its tiers are in our Krea pricing post.
Runway allows ads on every plan, Free included
Runway says what you create in it is yours on every plan, the Free plan included, and it answers yes to commercial use. Images made on the Free plan carry a small Runway watermark, and Standard comes with no watermarks. Standard costs $15 a month billed monthly, or $12 billed annually. It comes with 625 credits a month.
Runway's own Gen-4.5 model costs 60 credits per 5-second clip. That's $1.44 a clip on monthly billing by our math, or about $1.15 billed annually. For an ad, Standard includes Runway Ads, which Runway describes as a way to generate, test and publish ads.
Novoads turns one product photo into the ad
Novoads is the tool we make, so we can show a run instead of a pricing page. On October 21, 2026, we made one GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst picture of an amber dropper bottle with a blank label, for 1 credit. From that one still, Seedance 2.0 Mini rendered a 10-second vertical selfie clip at 720p, with a woman holding the bottle and saying our line. It took 93 seconds and 10 credits, run through the Novoads MCP connector. The bottle kept its shape and its blank label in every frame, and the line came back word for word.
Seedance 2.0 Mini · image to video from one GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst still (1 credit) · 10 seconds, 9:16, 720p · 10 credits · rendered 2026-10-21
That clip came from the image-to-video route. For a talking actor, you pick an AI actor and paste your script instead, and putting your product in that actor's hand takes a custom actor made from a photo of someone holding it.
Starter, the entry plan, costs $15 a month for 200 credits and bills monthly only. Plus is $49 a month for 1,000 credits. Billed annually, Plus comes to $39 a month. Novoads is paid from the first month. Kling v3 Pro renders at 1080p with sound on. Its 5-second clip costs 10 credits. That's $0.75 on Starter and $0.49 on Plus. Every plan and its price is on the Novoads pricing page.
One 5-second clip, priced on each tool
What OpenArt's own test implies
OpenArt published its own cost test on July 22, 2026, from prompts it ran on May 14. The two clips we use from it are both 5 seconds at 720p. On its Wonder plan, then $120 a month billed yearly, a Seedance 2.0 clip came to $0.45. A Kling 3.0 clip without audio came to $0.14 on the same plan. The post adds that its then $7 plan worked out to about $0.70 per Seedance 2.0 clip.
By our math, that puts a Seedance 2.0 clip at about 400 OpenArt credits and a Kling 3.0 clip without audio at about 124. At today's Plus price, billed monthly, those come to about $1.13 and 35 cents. Billed annually, Plus brings them to about 90 and 28 cents. On Starter they'd be $1.40 and about 43 cents, but Starter's terms don't cover ads.
These figures are our own math on OpenArt's May test, and today's credit costs may differ. OpenArt's terms say the credits a generation needs can change during a subscription.
Our math also explains a gap on OpenArt's plan cards. The Plus card estimates up to about 150 videos a month, without naming a model or a length. At the roughly 400 credits our math gives a Seedance 2.0 clip, Plus's monthly credits would cover about 30 of them. So the card's estimate only works out with cheaper models, shorter clips or lower resolutions.
What one clip costs on Novoads
- A Kling v3 Pro clip, 5 seconds at 1080p with sound, costs 10 credits ($0.75 on Starter, $0.49 on Plus).
- A Seedance 2.0 clip, 5 seconds at 720p, costs 23 credits (about $1.73 on Starter, $1.13 on Plus).
- A Seedance 2.0 Mini clip, 5 seconds at 720p, costs 5 credits (about 38 cents on Starter, 25 cents on Plus).

Where a rival costs less per Kling clip
Per Kling clip, Novoads isn't the cheapest. Four rivals sell a Kling clip for less than the $0.75 a Kling v3 Pro clip costs on Novoads Starter.
- Kling Standard, $0.40 for Kling 3.0 at 720p without audio
- Krea Basic, $0.47 for Kling 2.5
- Higgsfield Starter, about €0.49 to €0.53 for Kling 3.0 at 720p, for a visitor from Spain
- OpenArt Plus, about 35 cents for Kling 3.0 at 720p without audio, by our math on its May test
On Novoads Plus the clip is $0.49, and Kling's own plan, Krea and OpenArt Plus still cost less. So does Higgsfield Plus, at about €0.34 to €0.37 for a visitor from Spain. Most of those rival clips are 720p without sound, while Novoads renders Kling v3 Pro at 1080p with sound on, so check which one your ad needs. We think 720p holds up in most phone feeds, but a clip with a spoken line needs sound from the model or a voiceover added afterwards. On Seedance 2.0 at 720p, OpenArt Plus comes out level with Novoads Plus by our math, and both cost less than Novoads Starter.

Where to start if every clip has to run as an ad
If you're staying with OpenArt
Buy Plus, since it's the cheapest plan whose terms allow commercial use, and check each model's credit cost in the app before you generate. Keep the watermark in mind too, because OpenArt's own pages answer that question two ways.
If you're moving off OpenArt
- Pick Kling when Kling 3.0 is the only model you need and you want Kling's own rates.
- Pick Higgsfield when you want many models on one plan, and check the price it shows you, since it changes by region.
- Pick Krea when most of your ads are images.
- Pick Runway when you want Gen-4.5 and Runway's own ad tool.
- Pick Novoads when you want the clip built from your product photo or an AI actor reading your script, and you're fine paying from the first month.
Price one clip on the plan you'd actually buy, at the resolution your ad needs, before you move a single project.
